<description>My Grandfather was Thomas Ernest Funnell and my mother is Gwendoline Ruth (Funnell)- Soderquist- Loucks. Thank you so much for doing this and showing us our Grandfathers story and his brothers. This is so overwhelming to read. I wish I had the sense to talk more to my Grandfather Tom about his trek across the Edson Trail and his close encounter with the sinking of the Titanic. Grandfather sailed the same day as the Titanic from the same port in 1912. Such history.
My Grandfather passed away in 1974 just a few weeks after my 1st child was born. My Mom Gwen lives in Fort St.John BC Canada and is 83 years old.
Thank you again

		<description>Hi Andy
Re- &#039;Don&#039;t need that coffin yet&#039;
Yes it was me that sent that story to the Sussex Express. I am writing a story based around my Grand mother Grace Funnell (Nee`Hobden), memiors before, during and after the Great War.
Iam trying to get it all finished before the 100th anniversary but its hard going, work gets in the way.
Part of the story is about the Funnell&#039;s and wheelwrighting which my Greatgrandfather Leonard Funnell started in Rushlake Green in the early !880&#039;s, his son Ernest Carried on until about 1940, he sadly died soon after this.
Leonards 2nd youngest son Sydney (My Grandfather) was a craftsman he felled the trees, cut the timber to size and made gates which he won prizes for and also made furniture. I am fortunate to have inherited his skills as I am by trade a furniture restorer.
I would love to know if any other Funnells out there have any storys to tell about the wheelwrights at Rushlake Green, photographs of the wheelwrights are also in short supply. If any would like to share them with me could they contact me either on 01435 810121 or email stephen.ziegler@tesco.net
Thank you

		<description>Hi Jenny!

I don&#039;t suppose you will see this in time, but if you do can you get in touch urgently?

I am involved with a short BBC documentary being made on the subject of the loss of HMS Hythe, the Southborough victims and Captain Salomons. However, we are especially interested in the story of the Funnell boys lost in the tragedy.

Whilst we already have a great deal of interesting material we would love to hear from you urgently if you get to see this!

You can contact me again through this site, or else feel free to call me on 01424 753356.

Thank you!

<description>Hi Andy I cant thank you enough for this research, Victor Ernest Funnell would have been my great Uncle. Research like this is paramount in teaching our children about the past and when you can say they are related it highlights it even more. Thanks again mel</description>

		<description>Hello Andy

I&#039;m so glad I found your web site. I have discovered I have a relationship with the Funnell family through George Collett Funnell b. 1857, Brighton Sussex England who married Elizabeth Jane Nash b. 1858 Shere, Surrey, England. Their children were Dorothy Grace, Bertha Lillian, Margarie Louise, and George Henry Thomas. After George Collett Funnell died in 1893 his wife Elizabeth married my great grandfather Thomas Dilloway who had previously been married to Elizabeth&#039;s sister Ann Nash and had children including my grandfather Reginald John Dilloway. The Funnell children were then brought up by Thomas and Elizabeth and combined with Thomas&#039;s children from his first marriage to form a large family. At times the Funnell children sometimes used the surname Dilloway though when they married they married under the Funnell name so I doubt they were officially adopted by Thomas Dilloway. The Funnell children Married: Dorothy Grace Funnell married Robert William Piggott, Bertha lillian Funnell married Jack Elliot, Margarie Louise married Archibald Colin Hart, George Henry Thomas Funnell married Emily Matilda Emsely. They all seemed to reside around Surrey and Sussex, England.

Kind regards
Reg Dilloway
