Hiya, i am looking for Tony (Antonio) and Ylva Funnell, who live in Sweden with their three children. Does anyone here know them and could they get me in contact with them please? We lost contact about 8 – 10 years ago just before the had their third baby.

Comments: I am writing on behalf of my good friend George Funnell. He was born in 1926 in England(now 81 years old). He was unfortunately abandoned at an orphanage in Eastborne at 3 years of age. He has no known relatives but believes that when his mother gave him away she kept his brother. It would mean the world to George if he could finally connect to someone related to him. He also resided at a boys home north of London until he joined the army and eventually moved to Australia. If anyone has any information or thinks they may be related to George, please contact me. George is now in a retirement village and suffers poor health. It would be great to find a relative before it’s too late.
Hi Kylie
I was most surprised to read your ‘plea’. I was corresponding with George some years ago – about 1993-4 just before his wife, Sissi, died.
For several Christmas’ we exchanged cards and then they stopped so I did the worst thing possible in family tree – I ‘presumed’ he had passed away! (I saw a bolt of lightening not long ago!!)
I sent George all the information I had on his family at that time including certificates. I am surprised that George is still under the impression that his mother kept his twin brother whilst sending him to an orphanage because that is not true. George’s brother, Wallace, died 23 Oct 1926 – just about 5 weeks old!
Their mother, Ellen Ann, died aged 49 unmarried – she had the twins when she was 37 (quite an age for an unmarried mother!)
Ellen’s father, James Funnell married 1885 to Mercy Hoad. Both were born in Herstmonceux and got married there.
Unfortunately Mercy died the age of 34 leaving her husband to bring up a young family – 5 under the age of 15. Samson died aged 25 unmarried; Mercy died a spinster aged 78; two sisters, Nellie and Rose married brothers and one of these couples had a daughter Mary Battle born 1920 Eastbourne. Difficult to find descendants from female ancestors – but I will try. Perhaps going back a further generation will find more results of living relatives but a little more distant.
Please give George my kindest regards (if he remembers me!)
All the very best
