Message for poster no 29 Andrew Morgan. Re Peter William Funnell.
He was Landlord of the Loughborough Park Tavern. Chairman of Lambeth Board of Guardians, a member of Lambeth Vestry. In 1868 he was elected chairman of Licensed Victuallers Protection Society. 1885 he was elected onto the Metropolitan Board of Works as one of Lambeth Vestry’s Representatives. He remained a member until his death 16th March 1889. The board was abolished five days after his death. I have a photo of him and one of the pub. I am not related in anyway, I used to live in Loughborough Park though. I was researching the pub. His wife Harriet Dubbins, I suspect she was probably related to the Dubbins who appear at the pub in the 1881 census, at that time Peter was nearby at number 80 as you said in your post.
Sorry, no idea. Please let us know if you resolve the mystery.
Regards,
Andy
Hi, I have been doing some family tree research for my friend who’s great uncle was called Albert James Dunk born 1885 Battersea, I have all records including baptism, marriage and census apart from 1901 census. He joined the Hampshire regiment in 1903 but used the name John Funnell as an alias.
He also names his 4 brothers (that I have in the censuses as dunk) all by the name of Funnell living at 17 marborough road, Green St Forest gate Essex and his father as Joseph Funnell ( funnell crossed out and the name Dunk put in) living at 98 Ewart St, Brighton which is the address I have on previous censuses for them all under the name Dunk. Are you able to shed any light on this for me?
Regards
Debbie
To Doreen Evans #16. My Grandfather Thomas Ernest Funnell was one of the boys of Henry Funnell, who she married. My mother considered her Granny Funnell. They lived in Halcourt, not far from Beaverlodge, Alberta Canada. If you want more information about her life here in Alberta just drop me a note.
Hello Julie,
At first sight, have nothing on these two. Any more info? 1180 is the birth date or marriage? Where were they from?
Regards,
Andy
Hi Andy,
my ancestor from 1880’s Elizabeth Standen married John Funnel, I know it’s a bit vague but do you have any information about them.
thanks
Julie
Shelley Songer re Elizabeth Songer 1866 Bermondsey
I have Elizabeth on my family tree and given information to my cousin as I think a relative Faie is searching but you can email me if you wish.
Hi, I am related to Henry Thomas Funnell, married to Elizabeth Temple, who died on Christmas 1893. I would like to find information on Elizabeth.
It seems we are talking about different Funnell families. I am talking about Elizabeth Songer who was born in 1866 and William Funnell born in 1863. There’s no Matthew Funnell in our family tree, nor any Thunder surnames.
Re: Matthew Funnell of Chiddingly and his wife Elizabeth Thunder nee Adams.
I have been researching the Thunder family and have discovered something that may be of interest to some of the Funnell family. Elizabeth Thunder was not a widow at the time of her second marriage to Matthew Funnell in 1844. Her husband, Alfred Thunder, was in Van Diemens Land serving a 15 year sentence for the theft of a horse and cart. The records confirm that he was very much alive in 1846 at the time of the muster (convict census), although he was missing (but not officially dead) in 1849. Just thought I’d share that wee gem. You (and I) have a bigamist in the family.
Hi, I’m looking for information on Alice Funnell and Frederick Funnell. Their brother was my grandfather, Alfred. There were two other siblings, Harry and Crofton. Their mother was Elizabeth Songer. All born in England. Alfred and Crofton were at Dr. Barnardo’s and then came to Canada. Alice and Frederick came to Canada a short while later. Frederick served in WW1.
Any information isappreciated.
Thank you
